Starting my own rewires contract on monday, anyone still using a angle grinder for chasing? i know its not ideal but tryinhg to save a little bit of WONGA so i can buy more equipment etc.. i shall be purchasing a wall chaser in probably 3 weeks so need an alternative until then. my sds doesnt have roto-stop so that is out of the question. i have seen 9" and 4" grinders for the same price, the 4" is 660w and the 9" is 2000w. normally this would be a no brainer but im fearing the 9" is gonna kick alot more dust in the air.

any advice please

just been to makro lol, no wall chasers but they did have 15mm 18mm and 20mm, 450mm triple pack length masonary bits for 9 quid all in aswell as 1000mm bits for 12.50 pre vat

For ÂŁ150 you can get a good chaser and hoover set up.
*The Erbauer chaser is ÂŁ99. A wet and dry hoover from Wickes is ÂŁ40-50. Using these 2 together gives virtually no airborne dust, jus a puff at the start before the plate is flat against the wall.
If you use an angle grinder in someones house, you'll likely get dust over every part of the house even if you are only in one room. In my view, an angle grinder is a cowboys tool for wall chasing, as it makes so much mess when cutting.
Alan.
