We're looking to take on an apprentice at the moment and giving a lad a trial for a few weeks, he's done some weekend work etc at Homebase / BQ but when it actually comes to manual labour its like your putting a gun to their head, I'm tired/it's to heavy all the excuses come out, do you really want this opportunity? Then trying to get him to remove his earphones from the iphone he has listening to music is a chore in itself,
what is wrong with the youth of today?? Not trying to tarnish every youngster with that statement by the way
I have had some ring me up with just "Got any jobs for 'prentices ?" When I tell them sorry nothing at the minute they just mumble "OK" and hang up.
Others have called me with an upbeat tone, introduced themselves, told me what they are doing, their experience and what they are looking for. Upon rejection they have thanked me for my time, and it's these lads I have chatted to and suggested other firms they might have better luck with, and taken their name and number should I need them in the future.
Not all ----ers by any means, but a fair share of them about.
