I'm about to start my electrical apprenticeship a week on Monday. I'm very excited but also a tad nervous. Was just wondering if anybody has any tips etc for me to ensure I really make a good impression at the firm I'll be working for. Anything would be great! THANKS!

Good advice given to me was to try and enjoy the job, if you don't try to like it you probably won't be giving it your best effort. Oh and keep calm, it is very easy to get stressed out in this trade and when that happens it is best to walk away for 5 minutes rather than smashing everything with your thor hammer

You don’t say what part of the trade you’re going in to. Domestic and industrial are poles apart.
I’ll be honest, no one in their right mind would let me near a domestic installation, I’m industrial through and though.

Good luck, the mere fact your on here asking how to make a good impression is a good impression in my book.

i learnt this phrase very early on: A time to lean is a time to clean.

And remember don't spend ages looking for rubber hammers and glass nails :)

Best advice I can give, safety is the most important part of working with electrical equipment and still is 10 years later and always will be.
Don't manage risks - remove them.
To be fair mate he isn't really likely to know what a lot of risks are, he's going to rely on others to identify a lot of them for him at first

Never to early to be safe mate, of course he is going to be relying on others but listening is vital.
Better to treat everything as a risk early than be unaware.

I agree it's never too early but what I'm saying is as a first week apprentice how is he able to know whether he is in a safe situation or not? He's going to be dependent on others to make sure of his safety at first in exactly the same way as me, you and every other first week wet behind the ears apprentice was.

Maybe I was being a bit heavy :)

Don't drink pints at lunch during college.

Yeh that’s my thinking. I have to supply the box so can order a bigger 3 phase option to give myself a bit more room
