You can just measure the dimensions of the room at floor level, no need to hold your tape measure up in the air or buy a laser
Think you need calibrating.

I don't understand these none standardised measurements because surely my elbow to finger tips is different to yours.4.5 hands to a cubit. ( 1 cubit is elbow to fingertips).

4 poles = 1 chain
5.5 yards = 1 pole
8 furlongs = 1 mile.
10 chains = 1 furlong
6 feet = 1 fathom
15 fathoms = 1 shackle.
and.... 3 barleycorns = 1 inch
and, just out of interest. ther's 240 pence in a £1
