ATEX Isolator front removal?

Can anybody tell my why you can only remove an ATEX isolator front off when it's in the on position??

Did anyone get to the bottom of the reason why yet? I'm interested to know....

For the isolator? No, haven't seen one that can only be opened in the on position.

Its got me fascinated, it goes against all that is common sense.

Yep makes no sense to me either, I was skeptical until the photos were posted but now I'm also fascinated to know why. I might even have a search through the IET forum for info if I have time tomorrow or even send the manufacturers an email asking them why.

I've never seen a Ex isolator that can be removed in the off position.
