would you like to play a game of chess........I play quite well.....(quick pull out the plug).......I'm afraid I cannot allow you to do that.....hahahahahah aaaa hahahaha ...(nooooooooooooooah).. :)

are you polish?

Is who Polish and dose it matter? Long as the person has gain all relevant qualifications and doing the job correctly, paying his/her taxes I can't see the problem. We are all from different backgrounds but all follow the same electrical enlightenment.

no skyrider I am not a Pole! I am Scottish, dont call me Polish , I was making a reference jokingly to the Movie 2001 when the machine becomes aware and turns on the characters, you have obviously not seen that it was probably before your time.

Hang on... whats all the Polish Bashing going on?

If they are doing a good job and paying their way then so be it. I put my hands up and say in many ways a lot of trades deserved to lose their jobs over the years due to been so lazy and charging so much.
Its a brave new world and in many ways we can learn from the Polish

"I here By declare this can of worms open"

I stand by my words... The Polish in many ways have made it better. You have to be a lot better now, Work harder etc

It tends to only upset those that feel they dont have to move forward

I hope to feel that way in the future when some pole is doing your job and sitting in a council house getting every benefit going and working for ÂŁ8 an hour for some beer money. And when you say you can't live on this and need more money than this and face
losing your house you might learn where alot of the forum members are coming from.

And what about those English also claiming everything they could get etc.
Here In LOndon I know all about trades been affected by Polish workers etc. But those that have taken on the challenge are doing well. They are now starting work a lot earlier etc and not taking so many breaks ! Also the Poles i know are not exactly working for free ! They are all doing ÂŁ150 a day etc . The biggest issue is Customers getting more and more into using them. The customers rank them as better workers.

Its not right etc , but i feel a lot of the problems where caused by "lazy over priced" trades people . I just wonder how many of us are happy to use cheap mechanics etc when it suits us? I know i do , and they have never once let me down. yet my "local" garages run by Greeks and Indians who have been here for years over charge and look like they have not got a clue! They just bash away with hammers.

No one wants anyone to lose their home etc , but its not just cheap labour causing the issue.

I can remember doing a site job in the late 90's , most of the trades seem to turn up when they wanted, stuff their faces all day long and then go home early. Big smug grins as it "was all right" Now i see the same types complaining !

For every Pole working in London or antwhere else in the country that means that one person who was born and bred is out off work.
And in response to LukeD there is alot off hard working sparks on the dole right now but can't get work because the Poles are under cutting them
Grantr37 is right about the back stabbing and lowering rates of pay.The last three years have been hard for most sparks and we still have another few hard years in fornt off us.But the rise off agency labour means the we will all be worse off in the long run. When these parasites taking all the money out of the trade and not putting anything back in.
The amount off young sparks in their early to mid twenties leaving the trade is alarming and the same with older sparks having to get jobs as taxi drivers, delivery man,bar work. And the constant need to upgrade and renew tickets out off your own pocket, mean there will be a shortage of tradesmen in the future.

so.... what to do? The Poles came over here because its better for them etc and its legal. Just as many went to germany and spain and took jobs away from the locals there years ago

We can all sit and complain, thats life. "Europe" is all messy at the moment. And its dog eat dog. Until a good body stand ups and says enough it will continue. Ask yourselves who stands up for you? Any fancy organization etc you pay money to each year ? No !! they are also taking money from the Poles etc .

Like many here, this month will never pay for itself . But rather than get angry i just try to work harder and keep my clients happy.
But i see many "sites" now with almost no English working. "they" want their own and its hard luck. The Government does not give a ---- about any of us.

But wait until mid july and them we will start to see the beginning of the next part of the recession ... Its not getting any better

The only way to collapse the situation is for everyone to not register etc . Demand the Government takes action and the Likes of NECEIC etc control foreign registrations etc . But this will never happen ! If huge amounts of work could not be signed off then this country would have a issue...But you all know that most will not stick together and try and get as much work as they can. The days of the British standing up for themselves and each other are over, The french do it a lot better
