Durham

joking aside, the NHS is like any other enormous organisation, it has inefficiences and pockets of brilliance also, and pockets of mediocrity.

You will find this in all walks of life.

I had a discography and nucleoplasty done in 2010, I will not lie, it hurt like hell, the whole procedure is done without pain relief whilst you are awake as they need "feedback" whilst they do it, they whack a ruddy great needle into the disc (literally), so they can inject a die take xrays and then send something else down it so radio waves to break down some of the disc, only when they are about to remove the needle do they give you some numbing stuff and pian killer.

I was at the time happy they could not get access to the lower disc.

I was then laid up for about 3 days.

The only advise I can give you, is make a nuisance of yourself with the doc, ask to get to the pain clinic (if you have not been already)
I am hoping now that being a pian in the backside, I will get something done, I have spent far too long being layed back and taking it at the NHS (No Hope Service) pace.

last time i had needles in my back was for a lumber puncture when i was 16!! that hurt like hell... 6 attempts then i told them to OFF!!!! i felt like i was going to die from there attempts at getting spinal fluid let alone the possibilty of having meningitis!

I have never sworn so much in such a short period, I did wonder why a nurse came round to me and said "would you like to hold onto my hands?" I thought, It can't be that bad. WRONG!!!!

I've got a split L1, so in effect an extra bone, and it causes me permanent inoperable grief. BUT, and this may sound totally bonkers, its one of the reasons I took up Judo. The fundamentals of most throws are spin/twist, hips in, lift and bend. So pretty much in keeping with all the Physio exercises. Done me/back the world of good. Comes with the fringe benefits of me spending my Friday nights getting beaten up first (on the mats!) then drinking beer with the boys AFTER!

I wonder if I have some issue with my back reading all this.

I have the blight that if I spend 10 hours in the sun moving concrete slabs (theoretically "back breaking") - I have a wonderful-feeling back and sleep like a baby.

Take a day off, lay on the settee watching DVDs all day, and agony

How does that work?? Hows that fair :bomb2:
