Hi I'm trying to find if I have a fault in these to brakers of in the lines. The 32A braker leads as far as I know only to a junction box that use to be used for the old boiler. It's been off for a long long time but want it back on again but it keeps tripping out for some reason. I've turned all the main braker and tryed turning on the 32A braker but it still trips out.

My question is, is this a fault braker or does it still detect a fault down the line some place else.

I've attached a photo. Ps the C/U is going to be upgraded as its old.

Also I can't upload a photo on this app so hoping some one can still dish out some advice 😊

You might need to save your image as a smaller size/more compression to be accepted.

If you can't reset it without any power then it is not an electrical fault elsewhere so it most likely is a faulty breaker. That is not uncommon with ones that have not been cycled occasionally during periodic testing.

Even if you can get it to hold with a bit of exercise, I personally would recommend you have it replaced.

The attachment file size limit is a bit frustrating at times, i assume it is a cost issue as larger files need more expensive hosting packages.
the only person that can change it would be @Dan
maybe one to review as mobile cameras are creating increasingly larger picture files as technology improves, could pictures be excluded from the limit then automatically compressed, before storage and display on the site?

Managed to resize it. Also found that the old boiler braker is the one on the right 16A braker. I've plugged in my multi meter the the end line cable of the junction box (old boiler line) and tryed turning on the 16A braker. I've found that the braker stays on while it's connected to the multimeter but when there is nothing connected to the end cable the braker will not stay on. Is this today with the rcd, of a possible fault

I am glad to see that you turned off all the power before removing the cover.
the condition of the board makes me shudder just a little bit,
too much cobwebs and exposed copper for my liking, as you say the consumer unit is about to be upgraded, i would suggest that you leave it alone and wait for the electrician that changes it to give his/her verdict.

Yes I was thinking the same thing. First time I've opened and not happy with it. I've also requested from my energy provider if they are able to put in an isolation switch so that it will be easier to work on the C/U without having to touch the cutout braker and get a knock at the door lol

It's not much of spider's web.......except for the spiders' webs.
Love the spelin, by the way.

It maybe a case of the display has died, especially if the unit is actually working, but as James has said you could be opening a can of worms...

There could also be a completely unsuitable junction box embedded within the wall and tiled over or just cables in choc blocks in old accessory...
