Hi everyone. I'm not sure how this works but if anyone is able to help point me in the right direction that would be great. I've got a Monarch water softener and the display isn't working. When I turn on the power it shows just a blue screen. When I press the buttons I hear a beeping noise and the machine starts regenerating, so clearly power is going to the display in some form. I've checked all the connections and they seem fine. It was working fine a couple of months ago but was unplugged for a bathroom refurb and has been stored safely. So I was wondering how I might fault find to find which part is faulty? I've got a multimeter and the basics of electronics. Monarch charge £144 for an engineer to come out but parts are still covered under warranty so if I can find out what part is at fault then I should get a free replacement. I've attached a couple of pics. Many thanks in advance. Ollie

honestly I think you have 2 choices.
pay the £140 engineer charge
or
send it back to the manufacturer for repair.
check the warrenty documentation and go with what works out best.

you are opening up a whole can of worms by diagnosing it yourself and requesting parts to replace. if it doesn't work, they may well say an unauthorised person has worked on the machine and any further warranty claims are invalid.

Thanks James, you might well be right. I thought it might be as simple as either A or B and maybe swapping over the display, but if in your experience it's not that simple then maybe better just to take the hit and let the experts sort it. Would be good to know if others agree though.

It maybe a case of the display has died, especially if the unit is actually working, but as James has said you could be opening a can of worms.

Without a bit more than a multimeter and a circuit diagram, it will probably be a case of change a part and see what happens.
