Bad practice FCU to lighting circuit

What are your guys thoughts on this a 13amp FCU feeding of a ring feeding a light. I know usually people fuse at 3amp but if unlikely to cause overload does it actually have to be fused down?

TBH not the end of the world if a 13Afuse used I suspect it will break within time parameters. Also if it’s off a socket then probably RCD protected.

Obviously it should be 3A, but if someone has popped a 13 in by mistake not the worst thing I’ve seen. definately change it for a 3A now you have seen it.

never deliberately fit a 13A when it should be 3A. That’s just silly.

It would depend on the current carrying capacity of the cable feeding the lights.
And also whether the manufacturer's instructions indicate a particular size of fuse.

New FCUs generally come fitted with 13A fuses, and quite often someone forgets to change it to a 3A (or 5A), I see this all the time.

You can buy them with 3 A fuse fitted, but it does cost more. Why? I don’t know.

It seems the same as buying plug tops, usually with a 13 amp fuse.
You should be matching the fuse with whatever load is going on it.

The plug bottoms have the fuses in them. Although it depends which way up your holding it.

They should jusr just sell plugs and (S)FCUs without fuses; save them money

Fuse protects the flex, not the appliance so not strictly true.
