went to a job today, didn't know where to start.

all they wanted was a new socket or two, but after I saw this work I couldn't leave site without rectifying.

trouble is how to get paid for extra work.

I am a small business, not the electrical police. so I doubt I will get paid for making good, but couldn't leave it.

just wondered what you lot would have done?

the fire brigade would love this cable management over a fire exit for previous mentioned new ring

To be fair, id send the pictures with a letter to health and safety.

The letter consisting your personal opinion that the installation is unsafe. They'll go and make sure the client has it done, because with it being a factory - they are able to shut it down.

Don't add the extra sockets, leave it at that! It's up to them to get that sorted, its a complete mess. Does the CU lid go on?

yes the lid was jammed on

@markc123 I think the socket job has already been done mate.

As people have said, DN's tend to get some stupid reactions but sometimes it's the only way. If you know they're going to leave it as is, H&S or whoever it is these days is definitely an option, you'll almost certainly not get the remedial work but you'll be able to sleep sound. Yeah, I know we're not the electrical police but personally, when I find anything that's that's this dodgy I'd rather know that I've done the right thing.

Looking back at those pictures, are you sure it wasn't a kitchen fitter who was working there last? All that insulation tape and connector blocks dangling about, it's usually a give away.

Quite interesting all the interpretations of this whole thread, Its a cold cold hearted world out there, and your damned if you do, and damned if you dont.

So much wrong, Myself personally would get who ever is paying for the work and walk the site with them and explain the consequences, with what can happen, then try and get them to do the immediate remedials straight away, with the advice of the next stage rcds, earthing etc. If after talking and they are not bothered then more fool them and just put a Danger notice out and send them an email/letter/eicr etc and cover yourself. Then walk.

So when your sitting in your armchair watching the news and the building has burnt down, and someone got strangled on the drooping cable (just like those firemen a few years ago) and died. Then the HSE starts there investigation. You will have a clear conscience by actual proof.
