How come MICC glands don't with a banjo where as SWA does, yet both are required to the connected to earth or are used as a CPC?

Sorry are you talking about the pots with the soldered earth connection inside?

On the termination iv done, its only been 2 core into a metal back box.

If the pyro gland back nut isn't tightened up onto the olive then a banjo/frying pan isn't going to do much. Earth tail pots aren't really needed unless glanding into plastic, geez bare pyro now that takes me back.

Pot earth tails weren't around, and banjo's weren't really required when i first came into the industry, ....but i can't think of a single instance where we didn't achieve dam good earth connections. If your that bothered about a MICC not giving you a good earth connection, use Piranha nuts, far better than a banjo...

Installed loads of pyros prior to earth pot tails arriving on the scene, never any problems. Only time ever fitted banjo's.....with swa.

It all comes down to the item/equipment you are terminating into. If its a besa/metal conduit box and you are using the threaded spout then no banjo is required for either micc or swa cable.

Our fire alarm installation over the whole project is wired in MICC, i'm pretty sure that we are not using pots with incorporated earth tails on our installation. I know we didn't on the last project. And i won't be giving it a second thought either!! lol!!
