Here is an article from the telegraph about "Banter" it made me laugh and I tend to agree with it in general, what do you all think?

To me, banter should be at the very least friendly and funny, if it's not then, in my opinion, it's bullying. Being in a site cabin and having banter with your mates is good fun, being on an anonymous forum and using cutting remarks designed to belittle others who you don't agree with and calling it banter is not good fun.

We all get tired reading post after post from under or non qualified members, but there are other ways of dealing with them, the 'angry men' of this forum as a group are as tiresome to read on a daily basis as are the people their anger is directed at.

If you like 'banter', you are an idiot ? Telegraph Blogs

The article confirms to me that anti - banter is a bit like political correctness -- its a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and promoted by mainstream media (as in this case), which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a piece of sh*t by the clean end without upsetting anyone. (Unfortunatley I'm not smart enough to think of those words so I've copied them! )

Tin hat on and awaiting for the incoming ..... now will it be the minority complaining or the majority agreeing?!?!

Peoples opnions of banter differ, i don't understand ... are you trying to start an argument with this thread?

Some people have a dry-sense of humour, so the banter seems more 'cutting' ... if you can't deal with the heat, get out the kitchen.

If someone gets offended over the internet .... then they need to take along hard look in the mirror if you ask me.

I like banter but I'm of a camp that nothing anyone says is going to bother me so Im not bothered .... I have rhino skin and a ducks back so nothing gets thro just flows off!

Call me politically incorrect .......

Haven't heard from you for a while -- thought you had died and gone to heaven! (And I dont mean snuggled up between Sarz's cleavage!!)

Im making a special gust appearance on the forum - i'll be gone again shortly, so you don't have to get used to the immature / unhelpful / sarcastic / hardline comments.

As regards to sarz cleavage ... what cleavage? ha ha :leaving:

Lets hope she doesn't read this.

Banter I guess is how the person the banter is about takes it, no matter how it was intended? Maybe?

If somebody's having a bit of a laugh and it's taken that way then fair enough. But if somebody's having a bit of a dig, and most people other than the person (or type of person) it's about find it funny, but the person it's aimed at doesn't, that's bullying.

Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on where you sit that is the case for discrimination. You are not judged on what you say and the intent with what you said it, rather on how the receiver perceives it ....... minority v majority??

If it's funny, it's banter, if it's not funny then it's not banter, easy really. If you get offended over what some fat nobber says over the internet what hope do you have in real life?

Its like sexual harrassment! If a woman gets touched by a man its some form of sexual harrassement, unless she fancies him then thats flirting!

Same action but two hugely different outcomes .......

Actually i think this is a very good debate for this forum and very interesting. I am all for banter and am happy to go when got a feel for the person although over a computer its somewhat harder but there is a definate difference!!! I dont think hes starting an argument markus but i may with you if you mention how small my non existent cleavage is again hahaha (now i no mark will b laughing at this as i no his banter and unfortunately how his brain works so know i can say that to him. I also dont care about takin the mick outta mysen) equals banter.

However mark ppl getting offended over the internet is very real so i will argue your point on this and i would love to be face to with some of the people who are digging on here as i think they wouldnt be as gobby!!! People do serious stuff to themselves on social websites due to bullying it does effect people and is serious.

Badged i love you as you always keep reminding people im here probably much to their dismay and giving me air time with your comments hahaha and i take all of that in jest see it really depends how someone is saying things!!! Now stop dreaming about my cushions and get on with cleaning your dentures xx

I guess either way il continue to handle mysen as others do if needs be and have fun and laughs with the people who are intelligent enough to be able to "banter" and know the difference.

Cue more opinions :)

You can tickle my big fat tummy and put my dentures in the bedside glass any night Sarz .... :smiley2:

Right not being funny but 1 your making me feel sick before bed which is bad for i digestion and two you told me you wanted a thrill not a heart attack and just because im a nurse does not mean i want to give you the kiss of life.... hahaha BANTER RIGHT THERE well done badged i applaud you

Obviously there is a place for banter and no-one wants to be a killjoy. But "Oh, I was just having a laugh/larking about/taking the mick" has been the cover story for bullies since forever. Just an observation.
