Hi Guys, visited a brand new house today and had a nose round as you do. I know it's sad but I'm looking at the electrics. What I noticed in the bathroom was a normal wall mounted light switch by the bathroom entrance door within the bathroom. The isolation switch for the extractor fan was also mounted along side the wall switch. Wall light switch was fairly near a wash basin. Whilst wall switches were outside zones areas, is this allowed?

A normal light switch inside a room which will be damp/steamy, and will have someone dripping wet having just been in the bath in it? It may not be against the regs but it aint right. Daz

They can be just as wet when they use a switch just outside the bathroom!! But then logically speaking, people normally dry them self off before turning the light off and leaving in the bathroom!!

The fact is, it's never been a problem having a sensibly placed switch in a bathroom, .....except in the UK!!

Ok I know I'm just being silly but, just think, what if you have a pull switch cord dangling into a bath? Isn't that just ad dangerous as a wall switch in a bathroom? lol

only if it's a modern, thrown up house and you pull the roof down when you pull the cord.
