Becoming An Electrician Help Please!!!!

:) Hello everybody, was wondering if anybody could point me in the right direction in becoming an electrician.

I have found this course Electrical Courses, Electrician Training which offers a 17 day course for £2200, it states you gain part P and domestic electrical installer qualifications. Is this good?

What other courses or qualifications would i need to take to become an electrician??

How long does it take to qualify as an electrician. . . . . 17 days??

Thanks Michael.

:p:p:p:p:p

nee probs mate lol

im a firm beliver that short courses should be for electricians without formal certificates..!! and you should prove a valid work history in the business area you were in..! i.e house bashing , indstrial etc..!!

and new to trade entrants should not do a fancy 17 day 5k all singing and dancing classroom mock up where the only problem found is open ring on a 3 outlet circuit!! lol

inxeperience causes problems!! how many people do you think replace the RCD's with standard DP switches at the main switch cause they dont know why it trips!!! hmmmm!!

This is the point I was trying to make to the OP, I will be learning the whole year at my course and as I am now at home with as much info as I can find, I also hope to back up the class stuff by working with somebody in my area, as obviously the real world is the real world. On the job experience is key and the key for me to get that in the first place is the course to enable me to get out there with a modicum of understanding.

Thanks, Steve

That's what I hope to be doing pretty soon once I have a little bit more knowledge and confidence. Just need to find the right kind of company to take me under their wing.

Hmmm I was actually thinking about housing associations or the council, and I expect to do some free work as that will help no end with a) the course and b) more importantly the big picture of getting experiance.

Looking forward to getting out and seeing some real faults and finding the solution.

Cheers,

James.
