hi all,
i was just looking for some advice/information if possible. i am nearly 27 years old and i am thinking about trying a new trade so i am currently looking at getting involved in the electrical business. i have no experience apart from knowing the basics of electrics, after researching online i have come across several courses that claim no experience is necessary to take them. so if i were to take the C&G 2365 Electrical Installation Diploma Level 2 course and successfully complete it, what would my options/chances be of actually getting a job/work? i have heard a few things about electricians mate if people could explain to me what this is? due to this site being what it is i could not think of anywhere else for better advice and any advice would be much appreciated in helping me decide my next move as the course is quite expensive and a long way to travel. thanks.

Just started my 1st year of 3 at my local college. Year 1 is costing ÂŁ1,200 - 1,800 and is 1 day a week. You could possibly do 1st year merely knowledge based (ie classroom) until you've found someone to work alongside next year or later this year. Once the 1st year is completed move on to year 2 and so on. If you're serious call your local college today / tomorrow as they'll know the price / days etc etc. I missed out for 3-4 years as I left it to later after the course commencing, so I'm now starting as a 35yr old boy. :)
Good luck and your college may not be using C&G anymore and maybe using ELA as the examination board - mine is and its same qualification and qualifies for a JIB card once the 3rd year has been completed.
