How to bell out 2 core MICC?

With a low resistance Ohmmeter between the outer copper/CPC and each core.

So if one end, I'll get one core and touch it to the inner copper/cpc then go other end and test between the inner copper/cpc and the cores till it bells?

Yes.

If I have a helper I use a pair of GPO 704B linesmans 'phones, much more fun and saves running about, especially if the cable is long or in a different room. You can also tell the other bloke what to mark the conductor as.

Are you identifying the cores, or testing the insulation resistance?

No offence OP, but I think you could have put a bit more effort into your question to help clarify exactly what you are wanting to do. Daz

connect a diode across the 2 cores at one end. then use your meter at the other. that will prove continuity and also polarity. then IR test the cores to the sheath.

I got a telling off on here once for using the term " belling out"
It's a term I've always heard used, but got put in my place big time for using it here.

It's a common term for identifying conductors or cables, around this part of the country anyway.

What's wrong with 'Belling out' if you are identifying wires or cables?
