Rollocks, I have never seen a bit which will not blunt after hitting a nail, that is false advertising, even the very best bits will end up blunt afterwards, the good bits can be restored by sharpening them again but no bit is nail proof, impossible if a wood bit, definately could be if made for metal drilling though.

I always use Milwaukee ogre bits, they go through joists in seconds and they are pretty tough against impact! You just have to put your drill on Gear 1 and they glide through. Armegs ogre bits are pretty good too! Milwaukee bits are only about £21 for 4, well worth the money I normally buy a new set every couple of months as I end up losing them or eventually they get blunt but they definitely earn their money first!

Been using the Irwin blue groove bits, 8 quid a set and they sharpen up a treat too when they go blunt unliike those red armeg stubbys sometimes they sharpen up ok but 2 holes later and they are fubar again

They do both. The flat bits are pretty good. The augers aren't great, the power bits are much better and will chew through nails, etc. They are a bit pricier but worth every penny.

If you want to drill deep holes fast, you can't beat an Auger bit .... both Bahco and Irwin are decent, if pricey. If the material is only thin, you'll get a better result with a flat bit ...... If you want a good finish where the hole would be seen, try a forstner bit which will produce the cleanest hole.

I've used 100's if not 1000's of auger bit over the years doing site work timber frames..
ive just bought the red armeg and have been very disapointed. I'll be using augers again next time
