hi guys, anyone used one of those BG consumer units? seen them advertised fully loaded for 50 quid! and a customer im pricing for a board chamge has insisted on one because they "look nice and glossy" lol

The BG 13 way is a good board
the case is more solid compared to a wylex only slight downfall take your time with the terminal screws when tightening feel a little soft I had one 16A cb that wouldnt tighten on the busbar but i rang them up and they sent another replacement and didnt have to send old one back
the BUSBAR is about twice as thick as the one in a wylex
I also used to like fitting hager and crabtree but for the price the BG is a Good board overall

i`ve fitted one of these boards recently, was quite impressed with it. usually i would fit either wylex or hager boards so that i dont have to keep loads of different manufacturers trips but have recently seen m.k. boards for 64 pounds.

after the problems wylex has had lately with recals of dodgy mcb's that could lead to fire i am glad i have used the cheaper screw fix option, although at the time i was asking on here alot of you guys were saying that you only use wylex as it was a superiour board.
i thought it was a 12 way board though not 13? bg had no problems recomend them definately.

BG 13 way at Screwfix is currently ÂŁ54 and slightly more for the 10 way ÂŁ59.00.

Personally I rate the BG more highly than the wylex, especially when it comes to cutting the cable entry points. The board is so much nicer to work with and when you put the cover on.... you don't have to fondle it and persuade it, just jumps straight on in there :)

As for the rounding of mcb's? Nothing that I haven't experienced with a Wylex.

I've probably fitted a dozen BG boards now and I must say they are a pleasure to work with especially now that I have purchased another screwdriver specifically for terminating the BG screws :thumbsup
