Ukraine has some cheap deals at the moment!

We're looking at Europe this year as the Mrs wants some where "safe" this year.

I have not done to much of Europe as that's for later in life, but Hvar is pretty nice!

Austin is great , spent a week in texas on a usa tour.

It was Houston where I met the girl I talked about earlier! Great place, though Austen is just full of oil workers.

Precisely why I've been there several times on tours! When I said oil workers, it was more a reference to the executive, rather than grimy rag, type of worker. If you were on the tourist trail then you probably escaped them - feel lucky - they make a damn loud noise in hotel bars!!

I hope you took a look at the bats as they leave the bridge at one end of the centre around dusk in their thousands, quite impressive. I also liked their slogan, "Keep Austin Weird".

Is that even safe yet?

Yes, for short visits. There are strict restrictions in place and you can't get within the 25km exclusion zone without having all your papers in order and you have to either be fully tracable or be accompanied by an official travel guide. You can't stay for more that a day within the exclusion zone and you can't take anything from inside the exclusion zone out.

You can get within 100m of the reactor to view it!

Apparently spending a day there is about the same as having five chest x-rays, not very good for you but nothing to worry about if it's only a one off.

I guess they're just happy risking the whole 'two head' thing. They make lots of money! :D

There are people living within the exclusion zone and in the town center itself despite all restrictions and government recommendation and have been for years. They even grow their own crops in the irradiated soil! How much longer they'll survive without developing some horrific type of cancer is anyones guess.

Hmmm lots of money, or a clean bill of health. Still I suppose they are happy.

I believe one of the maps on COD:Modern Warfare is also based on Chernobyl.

Well, Darwin would suggest that the genetic mutations caused by it will go both ways - many will perish and some will adapt and prosper. It's the adaptions that will be of benefit to science.
