Hi guys, I brought a lead on Rated people job was to install an external heater, external socket and and an internal socket, so I emailed them saying I would like to come and see exactly what was required, as I like to get it clear in my head of cable routes, where to get the feeds from, wether there is RCD protection and of course wether bonding is in place, they emailed back saying they would prefer if I could quote for the work and ccome prepared to complete the job, but I feel without looking at it
how do I know what is required?? WWill I need a chaser oval tube , clips, conduit, black flex, white flex, surface boxes flush boxes, crimps, go knows, what ddo peeps think, should I just give her a price per point and hope I take what I need?? I get the feeling she has the heater and outdoor socket

I did some work for another agency type (never again, wunch of bankers). Stick by your guns mate, the so called trades people who are rated are rated by the customer, not for ability but for how nice they were when they turned up. A lot of the time, the agency will only ask "Are you an electrician?" and that's all they want to know. If they won't let you go and have a look, however tight work is, walk away from it coz you'll almost certainly end up out of pocket.

Just my thoughts . . . . .

walk away..

They probably want you to turn up on time in a van, wear clean clothes, smile politely, don't chew gum, don't drink too much tea, speak clearly without too much of a regional accent, do the job for the price you quoted even though you hadn't seen it to be able to give an accurate quote, and vacuum up before you leave. As regards this heater or whatever, it just needs to work and look nice.
Not my cup of tea, but I'm not a domestic installer.

Ring your gp tell him you have a pain in your chest and ask for painkillers, see what his answer is,same thing with sparking you cannot do your job properly without seeing your "patient".

solution. go onto rp site. report it --- a bad lead " customer didn't allow me to quote" at least rp will credit you for the lead. then use that credit to buy a far more expensive lead ( e.g. for a rewire ) and pick a promising job. go and get it, then stay clear of ratted people

Jase, not sure if your trying to justify the cost of buying the job fella but there is a theme with the replies here for a reason mate.

Not trying to justify anything, I have used Rated people before and got a fair bit of work from it, I never pay more than ÂŁ9 for a lead and I only go for the first chance leads i.e no-one else has brought them yet so i am the first, have had quite a bit of repeat business just off the back of a ÂŁ4.50 lead, this one just stunned me a bit tho cos after a bit of googling it appears that the potential customer is Managing Director of a well known uk resturant chain with 50 resturaunts up and down the uk and is quite an astute business woman, so to come out with " could you give a quote and come prepared to complete the work, I want it done thursday" beggers beleif cos i wouldnt have thought she wasnt stupid and truth be told i was hoping it could lead to more work, but i guess you cant win em all eh!!

Sorry? Am I missing something here? YOU have to pay RP? For a lead? Not a definate job!!! There must be a hell of a lot of people paying them so they can afford the TV ads. Uh . . . . huh . . . . . . .
