Commercial kitchen with a stainless steel prep top bolted to the building wall, should be bonded, right or wrong

IR test from table to MET at 500V. if the reading is >22kΩ, then don't bond it . sssimples.

depends on where it is,some local authority's have spec, and while it may not need bonding according to the regs if it's say a school then the LA may require it bonded.when I worked schools they wanted everything bonded regardless.

We had some bench sockets at somewhere I once worked.
Some H&S lady from the Local Council insisted they should be plastic, as they were attached to a metal bench.
Fortunately no-one suggested bonding the bench, as I don't think I would have been able to keep a straight face.

Apply the appropriate tests. If it appear extraneous then bond it. if your results appear not to be extraneous then you may not need to bond it....

That should be a definitive enough answer :):mickey:

This was a pre PIR visit, the manager said would I put back all the bonding as it had been cut off when the place was refurbed, I said it was unlikely to be nessesary but I would test it none the less, a quick look round showed every thing including the sink top had been at some point been bonded, but then again it was ex council property at some time in the past and I think the manager has been there since, My initial thought was if it is bolted to the wall then it,s extraneous and will be at 0 potential however the PIR will decide.

thus intruducing an earth potential where doing so could make the installation less safe.
