Give it a good solid twist then double it over................you can feel the good connection as you tighten:)
Neva had a bad connection in 40 year lol.
Ferrules are useless done by people who don't give a damn......................

Panels I check now with crimps/ferrules are done by 'monkeys' who have no idea what they are doing.
Touch them and they become loose................

Increased safety my a............................

you working in schnedier panels by any chance? i know those monkeys, thats why we use crimping pliers not ratchet as you can tell when they bite/ are tight

Every panel I open up I want to re-wire/re-terminate.............pedantic maybe but it boils my --- it really does.
No 'pride in their work' anymore for the majority it seems !

Yeah right!! Is this your excuse not to fit ferrules then is it!! ...lol!!

I suppose all those aerospace and MOD panels that specifically specify ferrules and other crimped terminations are just a complete waste of time then are they?? Far better to just use the fine stranded cables/wires to make the terminations...lol!!

what he is saying is people are using worn crimpers that should be replaced as they no longer crimp the ferrules

I suggest you read his post again!! ...He's saying nothing of the kind!! He has clearly stated that ferrules are useless, and doesn't think they increase the safety of a termination/connection. He prefers to twist and fold fine stranded conductors...

In fairness to Eng, I read it the same way as well. But you're still not off the hook for not doing it in the first place!

Well I may be alone here but it used to be an 'accepted' practice to double over the connection if the termination allowed.
I wouldn't think twice about doing it if I thought it would get a better connection than a ferrule(electrically and mechanically of course) where the contact area is sometimes minuscule to say the least.
Small stranded would warrant a ferrule every time.

Some of the clamp type connections on coils and relays etc are total crap especially if there's more than one ferrule in them.

And just to be clear boys....................my panels go into Zone 1 areas normally so have your few cheap digs but don't think for a second I don't use correct terminals as your both implying................I have to:wink_smile:

Just read my post again lol.
should have read................................(ferrules are useless 'IF' done by people who don't give a damn............
