ha ha it ok to hv fun but can like someone give a serious one im already like delayed fm my schedule
Errr, I was being serious. You obviously not completed a survey with open questions before. I thought some of my replies were quite decent?

Spoola - Products
that design just works, easy to carry and simple. 25 quid value for money.
is good to add some plywood circles/spacers between the reels on it to stop cable going where is not supposed to.
or have a mate watching it unrolling when you do the pull.
some guys built their own from metal conduits, have a search on google you will find more designs.

if you want to count how much cable goes out you will need some rollers and a mechanical or electronic counter on them.

When i was studying design and tech at school the teacher wanted us to design a low cost paint tin opener, I think he was hoping he was going to make it big time by nicking our design, fortunately all our designs were crap!:)

I would have handed him a drawing of an old screwdriver. :)

right i apologise because i was just being sabotaged by a friend for the last comment.
well basically im actually kind of urgent to get this project done. the few question was to ask if you r the one designing what function you would like to appear in your dispenser, where would you commonly use and placed your product, which material would you make the product out of , how much would you pay for it and what kind of colour and design should i adopt and lastly what is the prefered length that you might want to produce

Perhaps some more will post. Never do today, what you can put off till tomorrow. Lesson learnt perhaps?

Hi Jasper, welcome to the forum...

As this is a college project then I believe the idea here is you are to answer these questions yourself and show your methods of thinking and not to go on a forum and list out your questions for members to answer in this manner.

I think you need to try to answer these for yourself where possible and where you cannot answer or do not understand a question then yes we can guide you on the odd point but we will not give you a step by step guide to designing this item as it defeats the very point you have been set it as a project.

I suggest you have a go at answering all your question you have been set yourself as I believe that is the intention of the examiners who set this project, then come up with a design based on your answers - if you then wish to post your design and ask for opinions then I sure you will be given some constructive advice to help you.

If you feel your stuck already then I suggest looking up this equipment that is already on the market and see the differing designs and see if you see similarities and advantages between different brands, models and price ranges - this should give you enough insight to work through your project.

Like I said earlier, we cannot just give a list of answers you have been set as a college project so on that note I'm going to close the thread.

Feel free to start a new thread when you have come up with a design and just want to get a few opinions before you hand it in.
