Discuss cable reels? in the Electrical Tools and Products area at ElectriciansForums.net
I think it's more product development at this stage although I'm a bit confused about how his product will work with a ratchet and pawl system.
You never turn the drum on smaller cables, always pull the cable otherwise a disaster will occur!
Jasper, I think your last post was the clearest you've described your product to date. Members have been commenting on what they class as a cable drum, ie something used to dispense electric cable. I think you might have more luck on a tech forum based on your last post.
well thats due to the uncertainty on the dispenser that i was willing to work on and im posting survey on this forum is due to the focus on the long cable of the red, blue, brown 3 core cable due to the way i wanted to dispense via a rachet and pawl system so that it could dispense at a fix amount since theres like not too much product that dispense a fix amount of cable at a very fast rate since the factors of the pulling and tangling are still dragging the design back. this link http://goo.gl/forms/VfwQUfulHd was emphasizing on a broad range of cables but mainly focusing on the long 3 core cable drum that i want to focus on
We are all thinking of installation work and you appear to be talking about appliance/equipment manufacture.
3 core cable of what type and for what purpose?
And what do you consider to be long?

it is the pvc insulated power cable that electricians first brought and cut to exact size for use in wiring at new homes/ office and etc in drums or in reels. for the length my survey was stating between 50m to 200m but depending on the user who brought on how long is the cables , this is part of research that im still trying to answer
Sorry that doesn't make sense. We buy cable in 100m drum normally and pull it in then cut it off once it's installed. You don't measure off an amount of cable to install, the extra work involved in measuring the length required would be ridiculous
but what if its the ceiling that you are trying to wire, not just the 3 core pvc cables, even fibre wire might sometime goes through the ceiling, ive done a reseach on the ways to dispence cable and this is the picture ive found View attachment 31478and besides there might be some amateurs that want to only use a fixed amount of cables, for uses like study purposes, simplifying procress of finding the best and neat route for future renovations and even like using midi cable to route from the hall to the canteen and wanted to prevent overrunning of wires if the product is tripped by a person
every electrician usually buys 100m drums or longer.Sorry that doesn't make sense. We buy cable in 100m drum normally and pull it in then cut it off once it's installed. You don't measure off an amount of cable to install, the extra work involved in measuring the length required would be ridiculous
