Is it permitted to run twin and earth in a domestic cavity wall?

So to repeat Telectrix's question, how would you run a cable through a wall for an outside socket, security light, etc?

Cable TV companies will just drill straight through (mine did years ago) as will satellite dish installers.

As said above, not good practice due to multiple bridging of cavity and issues with the cavity insulation. Not a major issue when running cables/pipes from outside to inside - we all drill with a slight dowward tilt don't we?

On new builds we are required to run the cable through conduit.
20mm hole through or use a bit of plumbers pvc pipe to sleeve the cable.

Nowhere as far as can think without looking.
Just a requirement of the builders and the building inspector.
It's not a massive headache I've got no problem doing it.

I've also been required to place all cooker control switches to the right hand side of the cooker/ hob because apparently 95% of the population are right handed and wouldn't want the switch on the left hand side!

LOL. I'm right-handed but mine's on the left-hand side. That said, I didn't wire it.

But most of the ones I can think of are to the left of the cooker.

My place has switch on LHS (not done by me) and guess what, its a perfect match for me. Must be destiny ...
