Time to put the tent back up to dry it out after camping at the week end.

Anyone else mad enough to go regularly that can recommend anywhere?

Im off for 6 days camping in Normandy today.

I like France for hols but I'm a bit of a newbie camper though; so tend to stick to the UK. Last weekends excursion (Fri/Sat/Sun night) was in Dorset (Bridport). Time for a few walks to the local pubs for various dorset ales (Palmers brewery) and a couple of pints of scrumpy.

Winds were up to 40mph or so though up on the clifftop (Highlands End campsite) and the tent just about survived (a couple of split fibe poles though).

Normandy??? What you got a time machine? Will you be going in a Sherman Tank? No seriously, enjoy it mate, and try to visit some of the battlefield sites - well worth a visit.

If you go back to Dorset we've stayed at a little site in Charmouth a couple miles from Lyme Regis. If its a nice evening then you can take a walk along the coast path into Lyme few pints and a cheap taxi back. P.S there is an Ace restaurant on the beach.

yes that's the place! Always said we would go back, have to take the nipper this time though!!

Yep, went past that. The couple we went with stayed there on their first trip down (about 7 years ago). Could see the top of a hill visible from the campsite east of there from the beach. Went for a walk to a farm that did cream teas ... 6 piggin quid for a blt sandwich and 1.75 for a "pot" of tea (enough for about one an a half cups). Think they've got a nice little earner there (the place was packed).

Check the New forest Dude, Free roaming ponies and all that. Just had four days there, Big plots, nice and sheltered with space between campers. Just that we rely on the weather to be kind !
