Discuss Can I replace the wired in switch with the simpler one? in the DIY Electrical Advice area at ElectriciansForums.net
Thanks bothI think it’s possible…. But You’de have to be certain that the C of the 2 way… (black with brown sleeve) is on the same circuit, And is the switch going up to the light.
You might find that the other end of the 2way circuit has a Live, SwitchLive and the 3 cores of the 2way cable you show in the first photo. If so it may not be quite so easy to 'retire' the redundant switch as there will be live cables there, they wont all be at the light! Thanks both
I'll have a play tomorrow in the daylight.
"Same circuit" - same breaker?
It has to be going up the the old light fitting doesn't it?
I'll definitely retire the 2 way switch as it's redundant now anyway.

You'll need to establish which end of the 2way is the permanent live. The other end:

I might replace this switch with a 1 gang smart switch and program the 3rd button on the 3 gang to control it.
