capping

hi all

we never use capping on our installations and i was just wondering would it be faster & cheaper than using cable clips?? any thoughts would be appreciated.

i find oval the quickest method for me

I tend to use top hat capping very regularly, I find it very quick and easy.

dont use..! i just use clips..! i trust my plasterer!!

p.s it also helps if you tell them the cable is live and they are then extra careful around your work..!!

Always use capping/oval conduit myself.......never thought of not doing so.

No capping ? No conduit ,phrases like rough,badger,**** come to mind

galv or pvc conduct all the way
STOP THE PLASTER REACTING WITH THE PVC AND IF ANY FAULTS ON THA CABLE YOU CAN NORMALLY PULL BACK DOWN WITH OUT CHASING OUT
the use of just clipping to walls is extremely rough and not recomended

thanks for your replies, i suppose its the way ive been taught really. to be honest i dont think any sparks round my way use capping or oval conduit... i might give it a try on a newbuild next week.

Set a standard for others in area to work to I would always use capping or oval as proberbly 90% of the subscribers to this forum

I always use capping/oval conduit easier than clipping & looks a better job!!

Never had a problem with capping, always use metal though as it stays straight unlike the plastic

20 mm conduit is ok but you probably then need to chase the wall and the cables need to be straight and parallel to get down the tube
