Caravan bonding

Hiya

Anyone know whats the minimum size for cable is for...

A. Cu to rod
B. Gas/water/chassis bonding

also if metal framework of the door need extratous bonding?

supply of caravan i mean, yes earth the genny but i would take the earth direct to the genny rather than another rod

There is not another rod, just the one rod which gets connected to (presumably) an earthing point connected to the met of the van.

What supply? The supply is either the generator or a 13A plug

Yes, which makes no sense.

There is no supply going in to it when the generator is in use.

He has a van on which a generator has been mounted so that the van is self contained. There is also the option to connect to a 13A supply if one is available

The earth in the consumer unit does back to the genny via the hook up cable so if like what sparky says. Then is rodded to earth. Same thing essentially as using 2 rods. What voodoo earthing system does this come under?

I guess the earth pin in he socket on the genny is attacked to the frame of the genny so if thats bonded to the c.u everything is bonded together. But still - the genny aint centre tapped so where does the earth current go if the genny hasnt got a n-e link?

Its the missing link thats throwing this into a mess

What earth current?

The last thing you want is the damn thing to be centre tapped!

Without the N-E link it will be operating as an electrically seperate system.

if you have the genny running and standing in mud and grab the metal door handle of the caravan what could happen?

You tell me?.... Ive never come accross this before so trying to learn. I suppose you can compare to a shaver socket?

Nothing would happen if it's not referenced to earth, that's the whole point of electrical separation

The granny won't be standing in mud, it's mounted on the van, unless I've read the OP incorrectly

Sorry - missed a piece - genny is mounted to the caravan on rails so wont be detached
