Steve Tester , i agree i have never had PI either , and agree with your points, but the question is will your points save you when your sued and your PL ins wont pay, and your not insured.

Right, confirmation from NIC-EIC professional indemnity is a recommendation only.

and NOT a compuksory requirement whith regards to P.I.R. FACT.

Know what your saying Eddie but they would have to correctly indentify the fault , make sure it was'nt listed in qulifications and then prove negligence,

I think they'd do better making sure the certs are only issued bt suitably competant persons

Bugsy , all i was saying that i was told by the NIC that 90% of electricians are unaware that public liability ins dont cover PIR's, and that PI insurance would need to be in place to cover PIR's. and that you are one of the electricians that are unaware, Im not saying you have to purchase the right insurance. You can insure what you want its your money. but would you get car insurace for a mini when u had a merc because it was cheaper, no because if you crashed your merc your insurane company wont pay out,, same as if your PIR report on a house was wrong and it burnt down due to something u did wrong , the insurance company wont pay out,

Bugsy i agree 100% that why im not buying PI ins,, just having a little rave at wats they fleece us for extra money all the time
