Mods I have asked this before can you give me access to the alarm section please . Been wanting to install a cctv system to my house for a while now and today after another break in local to me I'm taking a trip to the
ocal wholesalers to get a basic cctv kit and install it myself not done one before I'm sure there easy enough to do but any advice would be welcomed cable type etc and type of kit thanks in advance anything to deter these scum bags

The pan and tilt from your phone is all well and good if you are aware of the intruder and can follow him round. This may be the case if you get an email alert fairly sharpish and respond to it quickly, but seems fairly unlikely to me.

Also, when looking at low light visibility distance then at least half whatever distance figure they say on the leaflets, as they are very optimistic with their estimates!

Daz
Very much agree with that, makes buying electronic kit very time consuming. You need to see stuff "in the flesh" working.

That's why I like going to CPC. Their cctv section shows a section of the cameras working and you can ask to see any other working.

That's the problem. The few I have fitted in the distant past, even the branded names have been a disappointment . They worked ok, but did not come up to what I expected . That is why I asked about the quality of lenses now.

If people want to try and hack into your wireless system and watch camera footage of your drive then good luck to them! Lol. Daz

all depends on which camera you want to hack. There might be one covering the back garden where the women like to sunbath.... Not that I would dream of doing such a thing.....

Yes good to see them working and establish whether their setup is super optiminal or not and factor that against you install condtions. Still leaves you winging it a little on reliablitly - LOL it has to be said Im a a dyed in the wool Pessimist

I would just assume your not going to get HQ fast optics in a unit costing 1 or 2 hundred quid.
It's advances in on chip ISO that will get you reasonable results in low light.

Daz If some "ner do well" can hack your wireless they can see your non-encrypted comms via wirless divices V easy.
I've see it done with my own eyes - purely for an acadamic excercise. I'm not a badman :)

Yes I know it can be done. The point I was making is that all they will see is a static image of my drive :) Daz

I've recently installed 2 CCTV Systems from Sancce (Bought off Amazon) When I first saw the instructions that look like they're a literal translation from Chinese I was worried, However they are really easy to install, Literally plug and play style, And they give a very good picture IMO, Ok probably not good enough for a commercial property but for outside a house then they're very good, The first one I installed has been going 6 months no problem now, I'd definitely recommend them for a cheap, easy alternative.

don't blame you. you'd not catch me sunbathing in this weather either.

Night vision and I get a wireless adaptor so my customers can see it on their phones too. That bit gets abit tricker though
For access via connected devices a wirless adapter isn’t a requirement it’s nomally just a DDNS service or if you have a static IP address it’s just a case of configuring you router, kinda similar to how you would for an application like a webserver.
