I the was mate, 3 months work for a sparks mate.....unfortunately im in full time employment so no good to me. im really looking for wknd or evening work or a placement unpaid.

Ste what are you doing in your fulltime job, are you not getting enough experience with that or is it a case of you wanting to learn different types of work, nothing wrong with that if so!!

I work for a facilities maintenance company as a mobile maintenance assistant. Unfortunately the electrical work is limited. I really need to get installation work to pass the NVQ 3 and progress my career. I am applying for jobs within the electrical industry at the moment, i am hoping to get back into industrial maintenance or building maintenance (electrical bias) more so than domestic work but i would still like to get stuck into some domestic work to get a good range of experience.

I've been in your shoes and walked your path, did not get much help until I joined the forum. Other members became my Mentors and have shown me the way. I am now a much better Electrician and a better businessman (ok running a small one man band + helping hands as and when needed) but I've reached my goal and passing it on. That's all. Now I have bigger goals via further education into other fields, 39 years old and still learning every day lol.

It does not take that much of an effort to help out a stranger make a better life for themselves, try it?

I've received help from this forum members, time to pay it back to those that ask for it/need it. Just ask Matt, Chris or Manda what I'm like in real life and on site. Daft as a brush but I know what I'm doing most of the time lol.

I'm just trying to make a positive effect on other peoples lives, thats all. Thanks for the acknowledgment, makes me push to do more.
Great post mate

Paul knows how much I appreciate what he does for me, and as others have said, its a shame we dont have more experienced guys like him to help us trainees out

I remember the first time Paul gave me some on site experience, and when I look back now I can see a massive difference from where I was then to the stage im at now

This wouldn't of been the case without the chances ive been given to get the all important site experience

The first day you came along for a bit of experience YOU WERE RUBBISH! Only joking  That seems like a long time ago Matt, only 6 months back!!! Massive improvement since then, look at the finished install on that RFC that tested out perfectly the other day, one down 4 more to go.

BTW Matt you are putting in a 20A D/P rotary switch for the door/window shutters tomorrow seen as the shutter installers left it on a SFU with a 5A fuse in it. 5 shutters all at 3A each on a 5A fuse???? Numpties, it blow on me and Phil at 6pm Saturday so not impressed with there install lol. Bypassed it using Wago's so no local isolation, need to sort that out first thing mate. Another "extra" getting billed to another trades lol.

cool, it would be disastrous. just think, another "mad " spark in the family.

2 Paul's doesn't bare thinking about!!

Needed another one of myself today Tel & Glenn, brown stuff hit the fan, just ask Matt. "All trade meeting" and a telling off to everyone apart from the sparks!!! Developer needs this to be done by Friday or he has to pay ÂŁ200 a day to the client! Told him "we are on track regardless of the extras and hold ups from other trades, I'm not panicking (yet)".

Finished at 7pm tonight just so I had a bit of shut down time to attack the DB. It is not the work of art I wanted due to lack of time but I will still post up a picture once it's finished. It is not the best trying to wire up a board an hour at a time, its a bit frustrating. Anyway I'm a British Yorkshireman and anything is possible
