At least you've gained more experience out in the field compared to a Level 3 like me and getting nowhere with moving out of current employment.

Paul is a great bloke and way easy to speak to if you need guidance. He helped me understand testing and Inspection so i could pass my exam at college.

Ez mate hows it going? Got any leads on a new employer etc! Have you heard from Tom Rose at all lately?

Tom left mate. Got a new job.
I sent letters with a CV out to 19 employers around bristol... 1 response...
At least you got A response!
Try getting someone else to read your letter and CV and see if they notice anything that could be negative or anything that could be improved.
Possibly if the job sounds good try following up the letter with a phone call, get a name to talk to if possible.:27:
Hang in there and good luck:smile5:
:hanged:!

I know, bloke was great; said thanks for the letter and CV but unfortunately circumstances he couldnt take anyone on.
I said thanks for taking the time to check my CV and letter.
We'll see what happens

I've been in your shoes and walked your path, did not get much help until I joined the forum. Other members became my Mentors and have shown me the way. I am now a much better Electrician and a better businessman (ok running a small one man band + helping hands as and when needed) but I've reached my goal and passing it on. That's all. Now I have bigger goals via further education into other fields, 39 years old and still learning every day lol.

It does not take that much of an effort to help out a stranger make a better life for themselves, try it?

I've received help from this forum members, time to pay it back to those that ask for it/need it. Just ask Matt, Chris or Manda what I'm like in real life and on site. Daft as a brush but I know what I'm doing most of the time lol.

I'm just trying to make a positive effect on other peoples lives, thats all. Thanks for the acknowledgment, makes me push to do more.

Paul really is a top man..met me for a pint or 5 and then let me work with him which I learnt a lot..from then I'm employed by an electrical firm full time and have just had it confirmed I start my apprenticeship in September...take all the help he gives u...grab it with both hands

Lucky you Chris I can't even get a Coffee out of the Tight Git, Maybe he doesn't like me and I am not taking the Hint!!

Cheers Poult. As I said, I'm not bad at explaining things you already know but in a different way. The penny dropped then it all came together for you, then you creamed the exam! Well done, made me feel proud knowing you passed.

Let me explain the "5 pints"... I was working nights on a bar/club, finished for the day at 12 noon and met up with Chris for "a" drink. It was a day before my birthday and Chris had a lot of questions to ask lol.

Chris you have made it sound like we met up, had 5 pints and went to work!!!!!! read your post again
 "met me for a pint or 5 and then let me work with him...."

Glad your in employment mate + the apprenticeship!!! Well done, hope everything goes great for you. You've worked hard enough for it

Chris enjoy your break mate and be sure to get a few pics to post up on your return.

Last year when we drove over the head gasket blew just when we arrived costing €450

The lads at work were taking bets..most thought the car would give in around Luxembourg...anyway we arrived but in the Belgium the engine diagnostic light came on so they were nearly right ha..got it booked in for Monday

Up date for Matt, 114 sockets tested out great apart from one that you did not do (that was Tom, I'll slap his wrist next time we play golf lol). No continuity on R2 for RFC #1 (front offices) the cpc slipped out of the termination. Apart from that the install and your 2nd fixing was excellent, well done.

Ps, I'm playing nicely with the data/computer installers now. They got the message pmsl

any pics of the board ?

AAAARRRHHHH that bloody board!!!! Tried on Sunday to finish it and the builder turned up needing power on all day for his chop saw, drills etc. Tried today but gave up when the telephone/data guys needed power on all day to test their networks, cant rebot every 30 mins etc so I called it a day and went to another small job for the afternoon. Going in at 7am tomorrow and the rest of the trades can wait until I've finished.

Before anyone asks, there is no chance of setting up a temporary supply safely, well there is but the developer wont pay for it lol.

I'll pop up some pics by the end of the week. Need to take some for my old college lecturer that turned up on site last week, he is going to show them to his class!!! You was not there at the time Northstar but that man grilled me and asked every question possible about this install + EM light design + Fire Alarm design!!! It was like being back in school lol. He likes it and he is happy that I've made it. Now its your turn

Good bit of testing the other day mate, hope it helped you.
