chases in wall

hi have done some chases for for a ring main around my kitchen do i need to put conduit over the cable before i plaster the chases please advise me thanks

Reason why you use capping/conduit is that the plaster attacks pvc sheaf when in direct contact.

i normally use a bit of oval tube and plug and screw next to it, anyone else found anything better to keep the oval in place? i wouldn't just plaster the cables in, its a bit DIY

Drill 6mm holes rawlplugs and these babies for either conduit or ega tube.

The myth about the plaster degrading PVC is based with fact. The old PVC and the lime in old plaster did react, but modern materials have stopped that.

Saying that Oval/ega tube everytime.

20mm oval every time. Saves lots of messing and you can pull cable through afterwards.

What do u want holes and plugs for?? These bad Boys are designed to be driven in between the mortar line

To be honest on surface using conduit I would normally drive straight into brick work. But in chases if the wall is bad I would drill and plug where it was more solid.

If you can get away not drilling fair do's do it.

I've actually had to whittle down a piece of wood, hammer that into a hole and then drive in the crampet, apprentice times was cheaper than rawlplugs!!!
