if dust would cause problems, i stitch drill with a 7mm or 8mm sds, then chip out with scutch. if it's really hard brick, then i use a sds scutch on a 110V makita.. makes mincemeat out of engineering brick. have on a couple of occasions gone right through the wall, so 2 x 47mm boxes back to back. customer gets an extra socket for free.

Lets settle this once and for all. The best method of chasing is clearly .........

Mark the wall out , show the customer what to do , go down pub then back home , go back next day its done...LOL..

on recent jobs i cut outline for a box with oscillating multicutter with diamond tile blade. like 5mm deep, helps to control damage to the plasterwork around no big pieces come off. if its a crap wall or crumbly lath then even deeper.
its much better than a chase machine when comes to dust and precision.
dig out the rest with bosch mains sds with a short and wide chisel.

when done stick the box in with a blob of bonding coat mixed with cement. fix with some red plugs and screws an hour later.

Unless it's 14 Newton concrete block I've never had a problem using a box cutter/sinker. Really quick and just add ÂŁ30/40 on the price of the rewire for a new cutter,Can't beat it IMO.
