Hi all
Just thought id share with you this horrendous bit of wiring I discovered today

been working at appartments ( meant to be top end ) when they were built the main builder went bust and apparently the trades on site didnt get paid, so there are massive probs everywhere with bad plumbing wiring going pop, and paint peeling
bear in mind these appts are less than 2 years old and check out what I found when I removed the board cover
cast your eyes to the incoming neutral at the top of the RCD main switch
I nearly fell off my ladder:eek:

I mean WTF

Hi LLoyd,
So where is the original neutral thats supposed to be there, which goes onto the main switch !!!!!
Are the neutrals in there supplying a ring, or were they from various circuits

I used to sub contract for a company wich has the green tree symbol, sounds like Parrots !!!!. In there too the amount of remedial work that we were called to rectify, after "sparks " had wrongly 2nd fixed things !!

Best regards,
Sav

the browns are snipped back and the blues connected as a tail, i checked the meter box and its as youd expect, i can only imagine they used a scratty peice they had left that was too short and have jointed it in 1mm's somewhere hidden thats now plasterboarded over, think they all including other trades done it to dump on the main contractor who went under and didnt pay them,
ive never seen anything like it!!!!!!!!!!

What the hell did they think that pretty gold bar was for? Jeez Louise!

EDIT: I thought they were all the neutrals terminated in the incomer. Those are the TAILS?!?! Good God!

YES THOSE ARE TAILS

******* terrible or what, told her shes looking at a fire hazzard, what makes it worse is that its a 15 way board, every way is taken up and there are storage heaters, double electric oven power shower the whole shabang in there, all being drawn through those piddly little 1mm's. they felt warm too

Because it's smaller and cheaper than SWA and no gland kit is required to make it off. Yes you can terminate it straight into the main switch.

thats terrible, ive not seen anything so worrying since my old boss years ago telling me to ''dab the tails in live kidda'' when he couldnt get the supply off to a chemists

un-------beleivable
