PSR Lighting

Hello,

I have a sucessful Lighting Business and have decided that we can expand into Interior lighting for Joe Public.
My question is can anyone give me an idea of Market Rates for the basics?
Rewire houses average standard house?
Fit extra socket
showers
cookers etc?

I know its a cheek but I dont think I am a threat to anyones livelyhood so thought is worth a try.?

welcome to the forum ...................

No I can see that you certainly would be no threat to anyones livelihood, except perhaps just the sparks in your area.

But good luck with the venturing out and hope you enjoy the forum

Do you manufacture lighting or install it? Are you planning to actually fit the lights yourselves or get a spark in to do it?

We supply and install lighting, but mainly exterior for main contractors. We have all the required NICEIC parts to do interior work and the sparks to do the work. Just have no idea how much to charge people to be compeitive?

I doubt anyone in your neck of the woods would give you the info, unless of course you want to "show us yours" first? So if you post how much you charge for your exterior lighting contracts to trade and end users, then you could fairly ask for the same in return. I doubt anyone would threaten your livelyhood.

As you're not in my area my charges are as follows:-

Full rewire of a two storey three bed semi; Materials cost, plus my day rate for the estimated time taken gives me the price.

Extra socket; Materials cost, plus my hourly rate for the estimated time taken gives me the price.

Electric shower; Materials cost, plus my hourly rate for the estimated time taken gives me the price.

Cokkers; Materials cost, plus .... ah you get the idea. :)

I charge roughly the same as imago. I charge for travelling time as well - I don't see why I should be out of pocket because the job is miles away.

I'm glad to see that someone else charges travelling time. I think its a very sensible way of doing it. Means that I WILL do a job outside my local area, but the customer pays for my extra time involved.

I don't charge travelling time, but I advertise only in my locality, if a regular has a property off patch, then it is a loyalty thing, so I don't charge.
To completely hijack the thread - would it not be better if we all stayed in out own locality?
I charge how long I think the job will take taking all the factors into account plus of course bits
