Thanks for that we've got Sage for accounts, our bookkeeper does all that side of things or I'd be in a worse mess! It's the audit trail for surveys, risk assessments, purchase orders (although i'm going to get our book keeper to do that now) delivery notes, directors meetings, panel cost and production comparisons, same for inverters and roof kits - it just goes on and on ...... I could dow itha clone actually - do you know where I could buy one :-0

@SRE clone, yep I thnik there's a few of us just like you ;) Time to form up as a national consortium, buying power, shared resources, shared marketing budget, common brand, with local ownership, sahred knowledge so we're not all learning the same stuff, founders own the consortium :)

B****x, anyone else finding that their forum posts are being reformatted without line breaks?

Sounds like a good idea - we could do it between 2am and 5am in the morning when we're having a sly 5 mins. Or better still I could get my secretary on it, she's a bit furry and smells of fish quite often but she loves the mouse!

Timing's good with me :) That's about the only time I've got available at the moment, just have to kick sleep into touch for a few more months!

Chin up guys. I've been looking into some form of software to tie all this stuff up. Accountancy software seems to be all what's available currently. I will be looking into it in detail soon and post my findings.

Thanks gonna look at it tonight when I've finished my surveys - sis they say how much it would cost? Is it backed up on an external server?

Standard ERP solution, their are hundreds of these products on the market. we are looking at moving to salesforce, and using the back end tools, develop a full mcs system integrated into the process, that covers the mcs process flow and does all the accounts at the same time :) reckon it should come out at about £100 - £150 / login (user who says you can't share a login:) ) per month

Ok, I've looked at Click (thanks Dansk) sort of what I want but not accessed off a remote server with automated back up so if I'm out all day I can at least pull in somewhere for 5 mins and update files or follow up a customers phone call - good for when I'm on holiday too - if I ever get one. I've looked at Salesforce (thanks Worcester), now that looks interesting but I can't see the backroom stuff that I'd do all the QMS stuff on and I'm not keen to use the 30 day trial to put loads of info in to find it's not what I wanted.

Paperclip seems to have disappeared with their super dooper promised land of QMS - is anyone actually successfully using a web based CRM system???

SRE
Yes Paperclip is still out there , and as a company that use both salesforce and paperclip, paperclip win this one hands down, !! if you have a look at the pclip web site you can see that paperclip has been busy tailoring there software to help the end users complete a mcs assessment, . many companies have been using a version of the software to gain there mcs accreditation, and i understand that 99% of the accredited bodies have now been shown the software and now have companies who have successfully gained accreditation using paperclip. Our company is the last to go through its assessment with Elecsa, this friday, 19th aug. And i have no doubts at all that the paperclip software will meet and far exceed the standards required. Both Les and Ben at paper clip have worked tirelessly to make sure we all get through are assessments.
So what more can you want in a software, thats QUOTES, PRODUCES SAP CALCULATIONS, SENDS STATEMENTS , INVOICES, AND WITHOUT DOUBT COMPLIES WITH THE MCS REQUIREMENTS
I am sure i can speak for all of the companies that have successfully benefited from the introduction of paperclip, and say cheers guys! good job well done , and thank god your not going to be disappearing to the SUPER DOOPER LAND OF QMS...!!!

GET ON IT !! OR GET LEFT UNDER YOUR PILES OF PAPERWORK!!!

Not seen this thread... humm, but yes PaperClip is out there and is used within many installers - but its not for everyone and you can see my feedback on how the assessments go in our group on this forum - MCS PAPERCLIP. Not selling it here, but simplistically it has been used with NAPIT, NICEIC and STORMA on more than once occasion and Neil points out it will be used for the first time on ELECSA assessment this Friday. We have existing installers using the product and yes new entrants have used it to satisfy the MCS. Our latest installer is NICEIC approved contractor and his assessment was on Monday just gone and the software performed well and no NON COMPLIANCE'S! So join our our group on the forum, we are a commercial enterprise but always willing to give feedback on what to expect on your assessments without gain.

I see you speak with the authority of the unassessed MCS installer .... compared to 12 months in the business and a more comprehensive understanding of exactly what is needed.

For some Paperclip may be the answer - not for me. I've looked at it several times and much of it's functionality doesn't apply to my needs. That is my needs that have been clearly defined over the last 12 months not my perceived needs before mcs accreditation. I'm not particularly keen on the tone of some of the support from Paperclip when I mentioned discussions about what experienced installers need as a database on this Forum and that for me was the final straw.

Prior to that, lost emails and relatively slow support didn't encourage me. I'm sure the database has had a lot of financial input and I respect the effort the guys have made pulling it together but for me it's too expensive for it's limited outputs. I'm sure in 12 months time it will be a different picture but for now - "I'm out!"

Good luck with your mcs assessment I'm sure it will go well - but take heed, it's like your driving test. It's only the start of the learning curve ...

Is anyone else getting cheesed off with this sodding paperwork! For the last 2 months I've been trying to get purchase orders tied up with my sales, every week I think this is the week I'll get caught up! We've now got so much work coming through we have to make a choice - refuse a job and lose money to catch up with the purchase orders or carry on with the installs and hope we aren't penalised for it.

We provide a damned good service at a decent price but this petty paperwork is really starting to do my head in - especially when I see what other muppets are producing.

Hang in there SRE, something will turn up, soldier on ;)
