City and guilds qualifications.

I did my part 1 and 2 city and guilds in the 80s and also did the course c, then in recent years the 17th course and then even more recent the 2391.
I never did the AM2.
Not sure what the equivalent pt 1,2 course c equivalents are and whats the NVQ 3 ?

Can anyone enlighten me?

I doubt you would be able to jump onto 2330 Level 3 without having the 2330 Level 2 qualification first. The technical certificate is now QCF so I would speak to your local college they will be able to help. Although your Part P, 2392 and 17th will help they won't count towards your technical certificate. Also NVQ 3 and an AM2 exam would be needed for you to get a JIB card graded as an electrician

I'm always confused at why people think the AM2 is required, it is not required, the only people that ask for it is the training providers, no one else.. JIB don't require it neither do city and guilds.

It is required as part of an advanced modern apprenticeship. Also its a far more worthy exam than a 5 day Part P course!!

hi just taken my 17th and passed but the computer crashed during my exam and i lost 5 mins of my exam time also ive recently my 2330 level 2 and 3 im not sure why but i seem to be chaseing the qualification before it changes all the time my next one is 2330-10 but i think this is changing too but dont know when

If you lose time in your exam for no fault of your own, then the centre can extend your time, they can also pause it in the event of a fire alarm etc. By the way going for a pooh is not included, you do that in your exam time.

Further to my original post & give some feedback, the college wouldn't enrol me on the 2330 - level 3 (after explaining my qualifications to them...or perhaps lack of them) & so i have now enrolled on the level 2 at Kcollege doing an evening course 1 night a week over 4 terms (just over a year in total)....then onto the level 3 sharpish before the registration date ends. Its an extra year on but i dont mind if it means learning the subject properly.

at our local college i completed both my 2330 level 2 and 3, there was a couple of lads who worked at bae and they needed to have the 2330 level 3 only and so they were on our last year 2330 level 3, they said they didnt need the level 2 and the college was fine in enrolling them without the 2330 level 2, that was 3 years ago so maybe things have changed since (again).

I am new in this forum, and I would love to get advice from someone here.
I've started a OLCI course, and now I am a bit confused about all qualifications and how it all works, because I am from Lithuania, I don’t know how it all works in England...
can someone help me please, I have these questions:
1. to become a fully qualified electrician you need just C&G 2357 level 3 to complete or in addition to that you need a 3-4 years of apprenteship?
2. Does anyone in here finished OLCI become a fully qualified electrician, how was that? Did they gave you all support; did they provide you with full onsite experience?
3. After finishing with OLCI training can you find a proper job as an electrician? OLCI salesman said to me that OLCI will help me with job? How they going to help me (get me in to interviews or just give me advise how to do CV and so on)?

my thoughts are : if you are going to get on in life as an electrician and get a job with a company (at least), you must lead up to get your 2391 qualification, you only have to go to the jobcentre and see that employers want you to have the 2391 as part of your qualifications, no 2391 no job simple as that unless you go self employed but if you are not capable of passing the 2391 and keep on failing it do you think it is safe enough for you to go self employed and self certify your work, some people will argue that the 2391 is a safety net to ensure that the electrician who is doing the work with this qualification knows what they are talking about but only 40% of the electricians have the 2391 what does that say about the other 60%?

self certify with a 2391 qualification??? What about the Part P requirements?
