Hi all. Bit of advise required really. I am booking these two exams very shortly. I just wondered anybody sat these recently. What sort of revision did you do or any advice for them thanks.

the 2377 is going defunct soon from what I've heard, and the 17th edition is up for another amendment around the summer time, also the 2391 is defunct and replaced...

Another amendment... Another ÂŁ70 lighter..

I get the impression the OP has allready forked out a considerable amount of money for a lot of electrical course over a short period of time.. Is that the case?

I'm taking the 2382 exam on friday morning, I'm taking it without the course as I'm nearly level 3 2330 and trained to the 17th edition. I have done a few mock papers and they were easy. As long as you know where certain things are in the bgb (special locations, earthing, certain tables etc) its easy.

2391 getting replaced or just getting 3 smaller ones to replace the main exam....money making again.., but then i already have it.

just wait until you go for a job and they ask for the new testing certificates then tell you that the 2391 is obsolete and that everybody else has the new ones....including the european workers....
A spark I know has been working agency and they have already started asking, he also used to work for the council through a contractor that now wants the newest testing certificates along with a 3 day first aid and an enhanced disclosure(which is awkward to obtain)

I looked at the prices etc locally:

the 2394 is ÂŁ615.00 and 6 days
the 2395 is ÂŁ615.00 and 5 days
the 2396 is ÂŁ650.00 and 5 days...

the exam fee of ÂŁ45.00 is however included in each of the 3 above LOL

on top of the testing and inspection you now need to do the design and verification and also the Initial verification....

I think everybody should phone up at least 3 agencies today and ask if they will pay for the 2394, 2395 and 2396 just to see what they say....they will be wondering what's going on....then ask about the 3 day first aid....

The 3 day first aid course I seen is ÂŁ600+VAT.....when I phoned in out of curiosity they basically told me that it was aimed at companies paying for certain staff to do it.....when I said that nobody is willing to pay for staff/employees/i.e sparks through it anymore they just went quiet then said "that's not our experience on the matter" at which point I couldn't think of anything to come back with and said ok thanks and put the phone down.....I was annoyed...

The Enhanced Disclosure is only ÂŁ30.00 but getting an umbrella processing company to do an official application for you is very difficult these days as it was all charities doing them for this token price.....and I have been told by a few, including the one that used to process mine for me that they are now so overloaded with people wanting Enhanced disclosures for work that they cannot cope with the paperwork and all the time taken away from other things...also the government department that issues them has slapped a strict quota for each service user onto them due to being overloaded, so the few allocations/slots that remain are being reserved for genuine charity and education needs with nothing left over when there used to be spare capacity....

I tried the standard disclosure when my enhanced one went out of date only to be told by a few agencies which texted me jobs in financial buildings, banks and hospital buildings doing refurbishment work that it was basically about as valued as toilet paper...

An interesting angle on it Grant and Im sure you wont be far off the mark for those not understanding the old quals in a few years time! Like you Ive got the 'old' ones and would be reluctant to go through the whole process again just to satisfy the unknowledged, or the knowledged wanting to cover their butts, but ultimately I fear with time I may have to if I want work .....

Re: City & Guilds 2382-----City & Guilds 2377

I have just looked and the 2377-11 and 2377-12 are goners, I thought from what I was told that I had until summer but the college I did mine at about 5 years ago is only now doing 2377-22.....

You also want to hear a better view well last time I went looking for a job in November they where more interested in Compex Courses and H&S PassPort and some said if you have 2391 or any other its a bonus, they also wanted you to have cherrypicker and scaffold errection or abrasive wheels and harness courses never seen a employer pay for these yet so why should i pay.. oh yeah i need the money...

From what ive read they are keeping the 2391 and its been split into three parts for easy pass rates(which doesnt matter), but things change which is kinda obvious, I wish you all the best Ill do it again np :) every little helps i suppose and its a good reminder as you do forget a lot :).
