This is a genuine pic of an Electrician using his impact driver to do up board terminals, he wasn't the only bloke from this firm, they were all doing it. .

When I saw him I said wtf and he said its for the speed and torque as it's a requirement in the regs
I showed him a proper torque driver he wasn't impressed!
that is a bit overkill for a connection which is about 2.5-3 nm at most.
i use a 10.8v bosch drill driver for doing boards have done for years.
torque set to 4 is about right and 5 for the main terminals.
still go over it with normal driver though

I maybe didn't make myself quite clear, I wasn't talking about using a power tool for literally everything!
But having suffered from RSI in my forearm (and yes, I have heard all the jokes), then I don't put undue strain on it where there is a suitable alternative!

Christ I've just watched the video for that on their website.

Not great publicity, considering how poorly the SWA is terminated. Showing 4" of armouring from the gland. Not to mention using the wrong type of gland for outdoor use.

they should have been using these

do you need an outdoor gland if your using an adhesive heatshrink shroud?

i alglands.ways use outdoor glands, in and out. they give a far better grip to the armour with the tapered sleeves than those horrible knurled BW

In a word yes.

For the price I don't know why everyone doesn't just use CW glands as a minimum. under 40mm there's hardly any price difference. They are just as quick to install.
Because they show you up if you can't terminate without leaving half a mile of armour exposed!! For those to work properly you need to be a real man and have the shortest lengths of armour physically possible.

?

no it just means if you cant do it then your not capable of making swa off

Got the blade runner am unimpressed. This looks better but quick and easy to wrap a bit of electrical tape round to as a guide to keep the cut straight and just a knife and whichever hack saw is close. Prefer the senior but always have a junior in the bag.

got a cutter used it a few time good for me , as for glands BW whats that then.
cant remember last time i used one of them im with you tel cw's all the time

same here, BW glands never have filled me with confidence when you nip them up CW's are less fiddly and easier to work with but saying that I'm happier with E1W and E1FW glands they are the dogs when it comes to glands

as for those armour slices you can go stick them with BW glands a hacksaw and a knife wins out every single time
