Cleating to concrete posts?

Hi,

I was meant to be having a 600mm trench dug all the way down the garden but the customer doesn't want to wreck his new lawn now, I did say put it in before y lay the lawn but he wouldn't listen.

anway, to cut a long storey short, he said can I cleat it to the bottom of the fence.

my ugliest thoughts are no, not really, you shouldn't really fix to non or semi permed structures like that really.

whats your thoughts? I suppose if it's cleated on every post, it's going to be fairly well fixes, it's going to be covered in bark chipping a then at the bottom.

Yea that is rock solid either the fittings and trunking smashed or the wall carved out before that stuff gives out , rock solid stuff that sticks anything ..
Actually thinking about the original post , the op could fix the C type clips that takes 20mm conduit in black with this adhesive, I believe they are available in different sizes , and stick these on the concrete panels the day before the SWA is put in , that would hold good ..

Used to have a client like that, not any more. Got out before the brown stuff hit the fan. We all know the score, big business man, big contract, big bills to pay, gets the money from his customer, goes into liquidation, dose not pay anyone, sets up under another name the following week and continues trading!!!!

If this stuff could stick him to his past dealings for all to see, all of the other trades would not have been stung. Or I could just use it to glue his front door???? Amusing but illegal under fire regs lol.

As Dave said in post 7 , just get it moled .
If you get a good man on the job he should just about do that in one run and all you would see is the aftermath of the two 50cm x1m service pits !

Sounds like I have found a fellow moler !
They are one the most useful and profitable pieces of kit that we run , but the bloody things can drive you mad .

Nope, never operated one.
I have had a few laughs whilst watching the moling man install our cables.
The best one was when they ended up getting a jcb in to recover it after it turned straight downwards and headed for Australia. That didn't exactly preserve the precious lawn!

I do not want to tempt fate , but we are yet to misplace one by that far .
I have to admit that when ever I set one off it is always a relief to see it come out at the other end , the largest one we run is worth about £12.5 k on its own !

Yep, i've known them to eat drains,gas pipes,broadband and six bricks in the side of an inspection chamber...

Also,the spookiest sound i have ever heard,was the resonance coming from a road sign,with one head-butting its' footings

I need to discuss the options really, I'm running 16mm two core SWA so it's going to be quite chunky, I think the mole thing is probably not an option, I think fixing a batten along the bottom is not a bad idea if it will definitely hold, then I can cleat to it.

It depends what size mole you use!
I don't know exactly how big the one our guy had was, but they could get a 32mm blue poly water main up the hole
