Discuss clique in the Electricians Chat - Off Topic Chat area at ElectriciansForums.net

having read this forum for a few years now it seems to me that its lost its objective seems now unless you are a degree standard or above you will get slated for any questions asked, the clique will arrive enforce to slag you off am I the only one who thinks thank f*** I don't work on site with any of these guys ,then the chief housebashers will be on chirping how they do everything perfect. these are the guys who have never been under pressure to get things going with only whats on your van or in your tool box .then theres the retired spark " who in my day we did everything perfect" were trained to the max, who really are bitter cause nobody wants there old skills because times have moved on and they have been left behind thinking "I used to make all me own bends" when in reality they took 5 hours to make one, yet its cheaper to buy one. you know who you are so come on flame me !!!!!

Not quite sure what you see as the objective of this forum

From your comments I can only assume you see it as a place where some one can ask stupid questions because they haven't bothered or haven't got the time to learn the trade properly in the dash for the elusive dream of a ÂŁ50k + a year wage and they should be treated with some respect as a gatecrasher

A lot of the old skills are as valid today as they were years ago, manufactured bends don't always fit all installations as cheap as they may be

You certainly seem to have a narrow minded view of the industry and lack a complete understanding of the complete box of skills required to become a skilled electrician and not just a domestic installer. I think you will find that all the experienced guys are well versed with working under pressure in production environments which is not the same as a householder with a fault on the sockets or lights

Couldnt agree more with the OP. I'm fed up with seeing reasonable questions getting asked ITF and getting a bunch of pompous, patronising responses. We're all at different level and is this not the point of a forum?

And I wonder where all the OLD pompous members got all their patronising knowledge.
Certainly wasn't in non existant forums.

wow only a couple of names missing from the post perhaps there on holiday!!!.if somebody asks what you assume is a stupid question (it might not be to the poster) try a simple question in reply to gauge there level. I have worked along side young lads thrown completely in at the deep end then seen there confidence knocked out of them when they struggle and for the record my background is industrial / commercial/ manufacturing and a spot of house bashing so yes ung I do know what pressure is and a wry smile to myself receiving elocution lessons from a geordie and yes some questions on here are daft lets make the forum only open to those with a jib card then we can all big ourselves up

All corrected for you.

There will be no charge - you may consider it a gift from a kind-hearted Geordie.

I'm not actually a spark but my son is and I look on here as I help out with running his business. I do however agree that there are certain members on here that delight in belittling people they believe are less intelligent than they are.

What they fail to understand is that if their so called intelligence is offended by what they consider to be a stupid question they can always ignor it. Unfortunately arrogance doesn't work like that!!! they can't help themselves !!!! They have to prove to each other how clever they are by making snide comments.

Really clever people pride themselves on helping others not belittling them!!!!
But that's just my opinion tin hat on lol.

Neither am I ........ I'm really a plumber but keep that under your tin hat.

Arrogant and proud of it a great combination. Suggest you look back at your responses to this thread and ask yourself what useful purpose they have served.

I am sure if I look back at some of your posts I could correct your grammar if I so desired but that's not the point of this forum if it was it would be called the correct grammar forum.

Like I said if a stupid question offends your inflated ego just ignore it simples

The idea of a forum is to exchange ideas and information, not to waffle on about how good you are and what morons the others are.

If people didn't need information they wouldn't be here in the first place, likewise if your not prepared to share information then you should be here or at the least should keep out of the threads if you can't contribute anything useful

Look, I'm not a young sprog any more - I'm retired and an OAP so I get tired a bit quicker than I used to and right now I've just finished my tea and am off for a nap.

I'll be back to deal with you later .

Don't go away. ...............

All the more reason you should be happy to help those less experienced along the difficult road.

Sure, but some seem reluctant to give enough information to provide a diagnosys and others clearly don't have a clue.

To get the most out of the forum YOU need to contribute and lead the way............

Lets not forget that this is an electricians forum for electricians, I do see a lot of blatant diyers coming on here trying to find out why their rcd is tripping etc, thats not what this forum is all about, why should people who have spent a long time learning their trade dispense advice to those who haven't got a clue and are just trying to fix for free. Try going down to your local main dealer and trying the same, their advice would be to book it in to get it looked at by a professional

It's up to the experienced to lead the way otherwise it's the one eyed leading the blind!!!

All I am saying is a lot of the less experienced members are probably scared to ask questions for fear of being ridiculed.

And once the bullying starts all the usual culprits join in.
