Once seen a young lad use a drill as a hammer with the battery end
I tut and told him get a hammer
Said it was ok it wasn't Mine! (ie me)

I've got the Bosch 18v kit if I was buying again I'd Be choosing between Milwaukee and Bosch. I had makita previously and wouldn't have again

Most of my kit is Makita. Also have a Milwaukee Combi & Impact Driver which I don't rate too highly (have the Makita in them also which I prefer).

Just beware that Makita and others have a mountain of combi drills...get a well specced one rather than just a Makita or just a Bosch etc. Makita must have around 20-30 combi drills.

lol once I brought some new shears and the apprentice cut a 3.5 screw with them :furious3:

Had the exact same thing mate. Went to finish of a meter cupboard and realised they couldnt even close let alone cut:icon11:. Had a blanket ban on all my hand tools and gave them a stern talking too.

I have always used Makita and am very happy with them. I have had the same drill for 2 years with medium use and nothing has gone wrong so far. The builder I work with swears by metabo which noone has mentioned. I do like the 5.2Ah batteries, they seem to last for a long time, plus they have a battery display on each of them which is very handy, no first hand experience of metabo though.
Metabo SB18LTX Cordless Impuls Combi Drill (2 x 5.2Ah Li-ion Batteries) (SB-18-LTX)

Completely depends on whether you are buying a stand alone drill or starting to base a set round the battery system.

I rate the Milwaukee M18 range but it's not the cheapest. My combi drill batteries are still good after 4 1/2 years though and take daily use/abuse, same as the drill, which has only had one cheap repair in that time.

I have the C18PD, at least 5-6 years old, I don't use it everyday, but the batteries are still very good and have only changed the motor brushes once.
It's very good.

Got a Dewalt DCD995N brushless bare drill on Ebay for about ÂŁ100 and got the batteries , case & charger separate at good prices. Very pleased with it,the 3rd low gear is very useful for metal hole saws which I use a lot.
