Awright I'm new to the forum just to check mate do you mean the lights and sensors have to be wired in separate circuits ?

Wire the p.i.r's in series with the lights in 3 core &earth twin. So from db to key switch for future maintenance and for emergency testing purposes, then out in 3core t&e to p.i.r 1, then out to however many fittings on that floor, then from last fitting on said floor to next p.i.r and out to lights on floor 2, use the brown as your permanent in your p.i.r's and as your common for your e.m fittings, then use your black as the live out of the p.ir's and as the s/wire for the fittings, that way when someone triggers sensor on e.g floor 4, p.I.r switches the lights all the way down the stairs, hope this makes sense, Ben

Thank you guys for the help don 't like the idea of sensors instead of Columbus switchs but that's what the client wants looks so simple now cheers

Thank you, both. Seems like common sense may have prevailed, and the fellow is indeed going for one of the modern mirrors you mentioned...
