Confused about the terminal numbers in a distribution board

Recently I’ve started my level 3 electrical course but get confused with what the numbers mean for the earth and neutral terminals .

So you can match up the cpcs and neutrals with the mcbs.
eg E2 goes with N2 and circuit (mcb) 2 etc etc ...

But how do you know it goes into that terminal though

It just does.

MCB 1 = Neutral 1, = CPC 1

Simples

Except .......... if its a CU change and the existing cables are short I tend to go by length rather than adding unnecessary joints

Me I go from the left in line with the numbering on the Earth and N bus-bars, depending on how the Bus-bars are configured, horizontal or Vertical.

Coz protocol dictates its the one nearest the main switch

by looking at it .

MCB1 is generally the one closest to the main switch. usually right to left unless you have a MK board which is left to right.

Can't put it next to the main switch if it's a 3 phase board.
