Ok iv just finished my 2330 level 2
Iv just passed my 17th and my part P
i just went in and had my last "chat" with the lecture
I asked him if i join Napit niceic etc etc. Could i got and work for myself
My plan was to run a little ad and do small odd jobs while i do my level 3 next year.Nothing big, moving sockets, extra lights poss, wiring showers, i work for a Kitchen fitter very part time and hes said i can do some work for him Ie Ring mains,SFCU etc etc
I asked my lecture if i was allowed to change CCU's.
As iv also been asked to do some garden lighting/Power to sheds.
And some of these have nt got a spare way and the CCU is well out of date.
My lecture has said that i cant change CCU's on level 2? he said id have to ask Napit or who ever i go with?
Can any 1 shed some light on the matter, Every time i ask my lecture what i can and cant do, He flys of in a different direction and i never get a straight answer.

not really bothered with JIB!! :) dont plan on going to sites or getting CSCS cards..!

lol...

i got BTEC Advanced Level 3, also did the knowledge assessment with the NVQ as City and Guilds were up there own backside when it comes to other providers courses..!! lol
Hi mate
I just want to work for myself doing domestic and small commercial, just make a living instead of working for peanuts or being on benefits as a carer for next 25 years or so
I was told that all i needed was 17th,partp register with elecsa and as a adult learer was told apprenticeship route was not open to me ive tried many times to go this way so instead had to pay for a private course for many bucks also just done 2391 which you dont really need to do pirs but shows competence
so will try for myself and see if i can register to do the 2356 before dec
thanks to durham for all your advice mate will wait for the email to come through with much anticipation mate

you will need 2330 level 3 before you can do nvq3 and would need to register quick as 2330 is about to change, not sure if you hold either 2330 lev3 or 2360 1&2 but you would need to make up the shortfall

you hold enough quals to work self employed under a scheme and also a lot of firms would employ you but you would not be classed as an electrician under jib without holding the nvq

is it a requirement to hold these certs before registering

says on the delta website you can do the without any formal quals with an extension to the course to prove underpinning knowledge

and other providers will assess you on requirements and previous ability so it would be on an individual basis

so would be best for bruce to have a chat with them about suitability for him as its not totally out of the question without these quals

edit : already been addressed i think:rolleyes:

It should be a prequisite, but i believe it is not you may enroll onto Nvq3 and in most cases even achieve it without the other quals and so technically be classed as a fully qualified spark, however if you later try to join jib you may not get the grading you hope for as you dont hold all the necc paperwork.

That is one of the problems with many training centres who are bending the rules and making things sounding better than they really are - its confusing for most people working in the industry never mind those wishing to join.

This was what i was told of college tutor whilst doing 2391 course and he said they were running a course for level 3 nvq and that the lads who were on it had no quals but would be classed as electricians because a lad doing 2391 with me had done 3 years i suppose 2330 l2 and l3 and he wasnt happy that he had done 3 years and these doing the level 3 would be passed as a electrician just like him
I have also contacted college to see if i can do this to as well as the provider durham sparky suggested
thanks guys for help

it does allow other alternatives under Jib discretion, have you applied to Jib and been graded yet Durham? there is the possibilty that Jib may only grade you as labourer etc.. without holding all quals

Not that Jib grading means much these days

Is it neccessary to be JIB graded ? how much of the industry to they actually control ?
