Hi. I want to install a shaver point in a bathroom for a fussy landlord, but she only wants it to be used when the shower is on, not sure why. I am going to wire it off the shower circuit and cut down the cores so I can fit them all in 15A connector blocks in the loft. Is this ok? If not what regulation prevents thing?

There are none so blind as those that won't see.

I have used this rule to good effect by tapping off the cooker supply point to supply a cooker hood fused down to 3A with an FCU within 3m, wired in 1.5mm, tell me what regs I have broken ?

Appendix 15

Fig 15a

(iii) connecting cookers, ovens and hobs with a rated power exceeding 2kW on their own dedicated radial circuit.

What's your views regarding 434.2.1 (iii) ?

My view would be if you are going to use T+E in a domestic environment, then your cable should be in metal conduit/trunking. To satisfy the fire risk.

What do you think?

I would think chased into the wall and plastered (in the safe zone) would cover that wouldn't you ? we are talking here of a run of about 4ft

If you are talking about busbars then we used DI cables when panel building.

Come on, we are talking here of horses for courses, I would do a RA to see what was suitable in a given situation.

These set of regs have their uses, and they may not always be the best solution, but are very useful at times.
