Connecting a shaver point to a shower circuit.

Hi. I want to install a shaver point in a bathroom for a fussy landlord, but she only wants it to be used when the shower is on, not sure why. I am going to wire it off the shower circuit and cut down the cores so I can fit them all in 15A connector blocks in the loft. Is this ok? If not what regulation prevents thing?

I like these Threads, it at least gets you thinking and makes you look a bit deeper into the regs.

It also makes interesting reading others thoughts on things, I was quite surprised at some of the attitudes of some other sparks though.

As I said these methods may not always be the best for all situations, but can offer a viable solution in some cases.

Indeed, have used 434.2.1 many times but just not in a domestic environment, never needed to.

Hi Simlec, I have mainly used it for cooker hoods in domestic, as typically the customer adds this in at the last minute, usually after all the plastering/tiling/decorating has finished. lol

Usually I have asked the question during the quoting stage, and then they still ask at the very end. These regs have gotten me out of the poo more than once.

If it was planned for then there is no need, unfortunately usually it is after the kitchen fitters have finished, or on a partial refurb, or more usually after the kitchen fitters (or customer) has dramatically altered the layout without telling me until it is too late

Any fool can design a 100% safe Install, when they've got unlimited funds.
This is what being an Engineer/Designer is about, reaching a compromise between perfection and cost.
This is why all the regs etc. exist, so one can design a safe system within tolerable financial limits.
